Year 5 learners at Bishopston Primary School enjoyed an inspiring Careers Fair, meeting professionals from a wide range of industries and discovering the many exciting opportunities that could shape their futures.
The event welcomed volunteers including a dog trainer, a personal trainer, a geologist, a CEO, a marine biologist and many other professionals, each sharing their career journeys, daily responsibilities and the skills needed to succeed in their roles. Learners had the opportunity to ask questions, handle specialist equipment and hear first-hand how school subjects can lead to rewarding careers.
The Careers Fair helped children broaden their horizons and challenged them to think beyond familiar occupations. By meeting people from a diverse range of professions, learners developed a greater understanding of the world of work and the many pathways available to them in the future.
The event also highlighted the importance of skills such as communication, resilience, teamwork and curiosity, showing how these qualities are valued across every industry. Most importantly, it encouraged learners to dream big, recognise their own potential and begin making meaningful connections between their learning in school and future career opportunities.
