Teachers from across Swansea recently took part in an inspiring Swansea City Tour, designed to strengthen links between education and the world of work while showcasing the exciting career opportunities available across the city.
The tour gave teachers the opportunity to visit a range of workplaces, including Y Storfa, Swansea Market, Veeqo and Swansea Guildhall, meeting employers and professionals who shared valuable insights into their industries. By experiencing these workplaces first-hand, teachers gained a greater understanding of the skills, qualifications and career pathways available to children and young people growing up in Swansea.
A key focus of the day was highlighting how literacy skills are essential in every workplace. From reading instructions and analysing information to communicating with colleagues and customers, participants saw how reading, writing and speaking underpin success in a wide variety of careers.
The experience will enable teachers to bring learning to life in the classroom, helping pupils make meaningful connections between their education and future aspirations. It also reinforces the message that career-related learning should begin early, encouraging children to explore the many opportunities available on their doorstep.
