Digital Dialogue – Wales programme
Digital Dialogue: Wales gives young people the chance to engage meaningfully with their local, regional and national politicians, and have a say on issues that matter to them.
The programme supports the ‘ethical, informed citizens’ purpose of the Curriculum for Wales. Year 4/5 learners have engaged with this project over the last two academic years. This engagement has seen learners interview a range of local and national decisions makers including Cllr. Robert Francis Davies, Mike Hedges MS, Carolyn Harris MP and Torsten Bell MP.
Year 4/5 have also visited the Council Chamber to experience where local decisions are made. During the visit learners met Deputy Leader Andrea Lewis and posed questions of interest.
STEM Pen Pal Project
Year 4/5 learners are currently involved in a ‘Pen Pal’ project, seeing them engage with an NHS professional. Learners are currently exchanging formal letters with the NHS professional (Adam Croft – Sleep Clinician) about his job roles, home live and general day-to-day happenings within the NHS.
The aims of the project:
- Widen pupil knowledge of careers within the NHS
- Improve literacy skills
- Provide authentic learning experiences
My Ambition – Business links
For a number of years, the school has held positive links with MyAmbition.
MyAmition offers business consultancy services to a range of businesses from across the United Kingdom.
Christian (owner) has supported and continues to support the school and its learners. Christian has purchased numerous resources for the school, ranging from STEM robots to outdoor play equipment.
Christian has also led numerous successful eco-events, focusing on sustainability/21st century living and careers within this sector. In the photos below, Christian had tasked learners to plan, design and create an eco-home for the future.
