Cefn Hengoed Community School learners explore future careers through inspiring employer showcase

Learners at Cefn Hengoed Community School recently had the opportunity to discover the wide range of career pathways available across Swansea and the wider region during an engaging employer showcase organised by the Regional Learning and Skills Partnership (RLSP). The event highlighted the importance of connecting classroom learning with the world of work, helping young people make informed decisions about their future.

Throughout the day, pupils met employers from a diverse range of industries, giving them valuable insight into the skills, qualifications and personal qualities needed to succeed in different careers. Interactive activities and conversations with professionals encouraged learners to ask questions, challenge stereotypes and explore opportunities they may not have previously considered.

The event also demonstrated the power of partnership working between education and industry. By bringing employers directly into school, learners were able to gain first-hand knowledge of emerging sectors, apprenticeship routes, further and higher education opportunities, and the many exciting careers available within the local economy.

A huge thank you goes to all of the organisations that supported the event and continue to work alongside schools through the Swansea Pledge, helping to inspire the next generation and strengthen links between education and employment.

Events such as these play a vital role in raising aspirations, broadening horizons and helping learners understand the many pathways available after school. By engaging directly with employers, young people can see how the knowledge and skills they develop in the classroom translate into rewarding careers, giving them greater confidence as they plan their future.
