Cwm Glâs Primary School in Swansea has been crowned the Community Business Winner in this year’s Enterprise Troopers Competition, a national initiative that celebrates entrepreneurial spirit in Welsh primary schools.
The school impressed judges with two standout projects: the Acoins savings bank and the CLIC Café. Together, these initiatives involved over 45 pupils and highlighted the school’s commitment to financial literacy, life skills, and community engagement.
The pupil-run Acoins bank helped children learn the value of saving and money management from an early age, while the fortnightly CLIC Café gave students hands-on experience in food preparation, hospitality, and customer service. The café also served as a welcoming hub for families, strengthening ties between the school and local community.
Both projects have become a core part of daily life at Cwm Glâs, showing how enterprise can be a powerful tool for teaching responsibility, independence, and sustainable values. Their innovative approach and meaningful impact made them a standout winner in this year’s competition.
The Enterprise Troopers Competition offers primary schools across Wales the chance to shine through creativity, entrepreneurship, and a focus on sustainability and community — and Cwm Glâs has done just that.
