The Futurescape 2025 finals concluded with great success at Parc y Scarlets, where students from four secondary schools—including Dylan Thomas Community School—presented innovative designs for sustainable homes of the future. The event marked the end of a two-year educational initiative led by Young Dragons, in partnership with Raven Delta Group and Cyfle.
Throughout the programme, pupils in Years 6 and 7 explored careers in the built environment through hands-on workshops, virtual reality activities, and visits to live construction sites. Students from Dylan Thomas Community School impressed judges with their creative use of tools like Minecraft to design inclusive, eco-friendly homes—some specifically adapted for families with disabled members.
The judging panel, featuring industry leaders such as Chris Jenkins of Raven Delta, praised the quality and originality of the students’ work. The programme also included visits to modular housing factories and universities, helping young participants connect classroom learning with real-world applications.
Funded by the Swansea Bay City Deal Skills and Talent Programme, Futurescape 2025 left a lasting impact on both students and teachers. The project not only highlighted emerging talent but also promoted diversity in construction, with strong female representation across all schools, including Dylan Thomas.
