Inspiring the next generation at ‘It’s Your Swansea’ event

Teachers and learners from schools across Swansea recently attended the It’s Your Swansea 2026 Conference and Exhibition, gaining valuable insight into the city’s transformation and the future opportunities available to children and young people.

Held at the Swansea Building Society Arena, the event brought together businesses, community organisations and educators to explore how collaboration can support the next generation as Swansea continues to grow and develop. Teachers had the opportunity to visit a wide range of organisations taking part in the exhibition, learning more about emerging industries, local developments and the types of career pathways that may be available to learners in the future.

By connecting directly with employers, educators gained valuable insights that will help strengthen careers education and work-related learning opportunities for pupils across Swansea schools. Many of these new partnerships are being developed through the Swansea Pledge, which connects schools with local businesses to support meaningful employer engagement and real-world learning experiences.

A highlight of the event was hearing from young people themselves. A special thank you goes to Rose and Cole from Gower College Swansea, Lydia and Isabella from Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr, and Rosie and Arthur from Mayals Primary School, who spoke about how collaboration between businesses and education has helped them develop confidence, skills and aspirations needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

The event was organised by 4theRegion, a regional organisation that works with businesses, education providers and community groups to support a thriving, inclusive and sustainable future for South West Wales. Organisers were thanked for bringing together so many partners to inspire collaboration and showcase the opportunities ahead for Swansea’s young people.
