Young creatives inspired at Swansea arena event with Discover Creative Careers

More than 100 Year nine pupils gathered at Swansea Arena on Thursday for a special event hosted by Discover Creative Careers Cymru, aimed at inspiring the next generation of talent in the Welsh creative industries. The event welcomed young people from schools across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend.

Among those attending were pupils from Gowerton Comprehensive School and Bishop Vaughan Catholic Comprehensive School, representing Swansea’s growing community of creative young people. Throughout the day, students took part in hands-on workshops and discussions with leading professionals from across the creative sector.

Musician and producer Mei Gwynedd led a songwriting and music production workshop, while Andrew Minton from Hangry Animals introduced students to the world of video game design. Hollie Abbott of Awkward Studios guided participants through the process of designing a TV show, and Luke Davies explored the art of social media storytelling. Acting and performance were brought to life by Betsan Haf Evans from Celf Calon Photography and Non Haf of Theatr Cymru.

The event also marked the launch of brand-new Creative Career Fact File resources, designed to help young people explore the wide range of careers available in Wales’ creative industries. These resources will soon be available on the Discover Creative Careers website.

The event was supported by Careers Wales and My Choice Swansea.
